GRAVE CONDITIONS IN PALESTINE: REQUEST BY POPE

(Recd. 10 a.m.) VATICAN CITY, April 15.

The Pope, in a Good Friday encyclical letter to the Catholic clergy of the world, expressed a hope for true peace in Palestine. He asked for the internationalisation of Jerusalem.

The Pope said the laments of innumerable refugees continued to reach him, as did requests for help and protests against the grave damage to religious institutions, churches and other cultural places. The Pope invited all the Catholic bishops to emphasise the gravity of the conditions in Palestine to their congregations and to increase their prayers.
