Golfer To Retire
One of the most prominent iiguies, in New Zealand golf, Mr Harry R Blair, will retire from active participation in the game next week-end. when he will end his long association as professional with the Christchurch Golf Club. Mr Blair has been with the club for the last. 25 years and is known by almost every golfer who has visited the club in that time. Shipping Accidents Three sea accidents were reported today round Britain’s coast. One ship sank, another exploded, and a .third went aground. The 300-ton Christina went aground at the mouth of Irvine harbour. Ayrshire, and exploded. Nobody was on board at the time. The Dublin steamer City of Waterford <1334 tons) sank after a collision in dense fog in the English Channel with the Greek steamer Marpessa. Her crew were saved. Almost at the same time the Norwegian tanker, Brali (8479 tons), went aground on the treacherous Goodwin Sands and sent out a S.O.S. for lifeboats. —London, April 14.
