Poliomyelitis Cases A positive case of poliomyelitis was admitted to the Timaru Public Hospital late on Friday. He was a boy, aged 10 years, from Winchester. Since February 14 three children, all under the age of 14, have been admitted to the Oamaru Public Hospital suffering from the disease. All these cases are in the South Canterbury health district. A boy aged 10 was admitted to the' Wellington hospital at the week-end with poliomyelitis. Juror Exempted

All of the prospective jurors for today’s sitting of the Supreme Court at Greymouth answered their summonses, but one, John Charles Finlay, sought exemption from service. He informed his Honor, Mr Justice Northcroft, that he was a dairy!farmer, milking 20 cows without assistance and his farm was situated nine miles out of town. “I think that under the circumstances you ought not to be on a jury—you are excused,” said his Honor.

Death From Injuries One of those injured in a car accident at the corner of the WeedonsLincoln road and Waterhole road, near Springston,-on Friday evening, William McLaren, a married man, died in the Christchurch Public Hospital early on Saturday morning. Mr McLaren, who was a farmer, of Springston, was driving one of the cars, in which his wife was a passenger. Helen Borrie, the infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Borrie of Aranui, was stated last night to be seriously ill but improving. Her brother, Adrian Ronald Borrie, aged three years, was in a satisfactory condition. —(P.A.)
