Record Turnover By Runanga Co-operative Store
The Runanga Co-operative Society made a profit of £2,681 in the last half year, and a dividend of Is 9d in the pound on purchases will be paid to members on the committee’s recommendation which was seconded at the half-yearly meeting of the society last evening. The annual report disclosed that the turnover for the year totalled £76,482—a record. .Sales for the halfyear under review .were £36,005. Eleven new members joined the society and 27 withdrew, leaving the present membership 567. Capital is £15,729. Overhead expenses were 16j per cent. The president, three committeemen, and one trustee retired and the following were elected: President, Mr F. J. Oakley (returned unopposed) ; committee, Messrs W. Richmond, L. Grogan and J. McTaggart; trustee, Mr I. Cairney. An extraordinary vacancy on the committee was filled by the election of Mr S. Maskill for a term of six months.
On the motion of Mr S. Morris it was recommended that the committee consider the screening of suitable films in the town, using the projector recently purchased by the regional committee.
The question of improved office accommodation was referred to the committee with power to act.
