Silver Lighting And Ascot Lad Win At Ellerslie
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 17. The Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting was concluded at Ellerslie yesterday. The weather was overcast with occasional light drizzle, and the track was easy. There wasa good attendance and the totalisator handled £170,124 10s, against £178,276 on the second day last year. The total for the meetin was £345,787, compared with £353,863 10s, a decrease of £8076 10s. Remaining results:—

The Cesarwitch The Cesarewitch Stakes, run over two miles and a quarter at Newmarket, re-™ilted.-—Woodburn (E. Britt) 1, Vertencia 2, Garter Club 3. Woodbuin gained an advantage inside the lasi furlongs and ran on gamely to win by a neck from Vertencia with Garter Club half a length away. Woodburn is a three-year-old bay colt by Bois Roussell from Sun Ailmet. Vertencia is a three-year-old bay filly by Dieri from Advertensia.
