Crowded Dwellings in Britain
The shortage of houses and flats in Britain is said to be causing an increasing number of nervous cases requiring hospital treatment. Many result from quarrels with “in-laws.” Constant friction with relations and the strain of house-hunting affect the nerves and undermines health. The matron of a hospital in the East End of London said: “We are getting hundreds of cases. Most of the trouble is from families living together in smgll flats and houses. In many cases young married women with babies or about to become mothers are the victims.”— London, October 13.
