(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Concern at the continued delay in the announcement of import licences for motor vehicles for 1949 was expressed at the annual meeting at Napier last week of the itfew Zealand Retail Trade Association, according to a statement issued by the association today. “The effect of. the delay in the issue of the licences seriously affects the arrival of cars 0 and trucks urgently required,” says the statement “Orders cannot be.placed with manufacturers until the licences are announced and several months must elapse before the vehicles can be manufactured and shipped to New Zealand and distributed throughout the country. “Another serious aspect of the problem,” adds the statement, “is the continuing high prices of used cars due to the shortage of new cars. Considerable inconvenience is caused those who must have transportation and who are forced to pay the prevailing high prices for used cars because new cars are not available,” the statement cohcludes.
