REEFTON NO MORE GIFT FOOD PARCELS TO BE SENT TO WHITEHAVEN
(0.C.) REEFTON, This Day The executive committee of the Reefton Returned Services’ Association has decided that it is unable to continue sending gift food parcels to the British Legion at Whitehaven (England). This decision was made after consideration oi' an intimation from the Food-for Britain committee that its regular monthly collection in Reefton shall cease from October 31.
The thanks of the association were conveyed to the local committee, the collectors and all who had subscribed regulary to the fund. Following the dispatch of the October parcels, the association intends to issue a statement of accounts covering the parcel fund. The Reefton Food-for-Britain committee will be advised of the association’s decision, which will also be conveyed to the British Legion at Whitehaven. Individual collectors will receive a letter of thanks from the association for their work. FUNERAL The funeral of Mrs Kate Felton took place at the Suburban cemetary on Tuesday. The services at St Stephen’s Church and at the graveside were conducted by Rev. B. Machell. VALEDICTORY The Rev. F. E. Trim, who has been transferred to Lyttelton after three years and . a half in charge of the Methodist Church at Reefton, was tendered a complimentary social in the Wesley Hall, and was presented with an envelope of notes by the congregation of the church. The presentation was made by the circuit steward, Mr E. T. Baird, who with other speakers made complimentary references to Mr Trim’s work during his term in Reefton. Other speakers included The Rev. B. Machell, The Rev. A. Stuart, Mr F. M. Sara (for the Trust) and Mr T. E. Watson (Black’s Point).

WOMEN’S INSTITUTE The half-yearly conference of the West Coast Federation of Women’s Institutes was held at Reeftpn yesterday. Delegates from the Greymouth, Otira line, Reefton and Inangahua districts attended. Mrs Baker presided. The visiting delegates were the guests of members of the Reefton Institute. ______
