Notifiable Diseases Seventeen cases of notifiable diseases in Canterbury and on the West Coast, and four deaths from notifiable diseases were reported to the Department of Health last week. In Canterbury there were two deaths from tuberculosis and one from cerebro-spinal meningitis. There was one death from tuberculosis on the West Coast. The diseases reported in Canterbury were: Scarlet fever, four cases, tuberculosis, three; cere-bro-spinal meningitis, one; erysipelas, one; puerperal fever, one; eclampsia, one; hydatids, three; undulant fever, one. Two cases of poliomyelitis were reported from the West Coast.

£30,000 Bequest Between £30,000 and £35,000 has been left-to the Auckland Hospital Board for the benefit of indigent sick persons under the will of the late Mrs Eliza Potter. This was announced by the chairman (Mr John Grierson) at a meeting of the board last evening. Mrs Potter died in 1906, Mr Grierson said. Mr J. Moody, a past chairman of the board, arid one of the trustees in the estate, had advised him that under Mrs Potter’s will the residue of her estate, after the death of certain life tenants, was given to the board for the benefit of indigent sick persons who might be inmates of Auckland hospitals. The amount would be between £30,000 and £35,000. The last of the life tenants died recently.—(P.A.)
