IMPORT LICENSING LIST MAY BE ISSUED THIS WEEK

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. The schedule of import licences for 1949 might be issued within the next few days, the president of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, Mr Howard Hunter, said today. _ Mr Hunter has returned from Wellington after discussing the delayed issuing of the licences with the Minister of Supply (Mr A. H. Nordmeyer). * He said he could not give the exact date of the issue, but he would be surprised if it was not this week.

Mr Hunter said he understood that 1938 was no longer the year on which ithe import licences would be based, I but he would not comment on the 'new basis, on which he understood the licences were to be issued. It was-clear though that licences would be increasingly hard to secure. I Unavoidable delay had obviously been caused by an extensive review of the whole procedure, said Mr I Hunter.
