APPLICATIONS BEFORE WESTLAND LAND BOARD MEETING

Seventeen applications for land and miscellaneous licences were dealt with at this week’s meeting of the Westland Land Board at Hokitika. The Commissioner of Crown Lands, Mi’ H. M. Laurey presided and also present were: Messrs H. G. Carter, W. Clayton, E A. Kirby and B. Ward. The board s decisions were as follows:— Crown land in Block IX, Arnold S.D., 16 acres (approx.), John Joseph Coulson.—Licence granted over 12 acres. Sections 3958, 3855 and 3856, Block I, Ahaura S.D., 37 acres 1 rood 38 perches, applicant W. Clayton.—Granted. Sections 'l7 and 18, town of Matamui, 1 rood 10 perches, Mrs C. B. Purcell. — Application approved for one section on ]v—either Section 17 or Section 18. F p. Graham applied for a renewable lease over Section 14, town of Matamui. —Granted.

Timber Licences

Cancellation of silver pine splitting licence No. 1003, Section 3225, Block XII Waimea S.D., 40 acres, licensee N. D. McAllister.—Approved. The New Forest Sawmilling Company Limited applied for a licence to cut all millable timber from Section 3095, Block IX, 'Ahaura S.D.—Granted. Renewal of timber licence No. 512 over Section 3229, Block X, Waimea S.D., 18 acres, applicant L. Kelly—Licence granted to December 31, 1948. Renewal of timber licence No. 989 on part Section 2765, Block I, Kopara S.D.. 200 acres, applicant A. F. Lemon—Granted. Renewal of timber licence No. 1018, part Section 3325, Block IV, Ahaura S.D., 49 acres, applicant W. J. McVicar. —Granted, Mr Kelly aplied for cancellation of his silver pine splitting licence No. 990 over 60 acres part Section 3230, Block XI, Waimea S.D.—Licence cancelled.

Cowan—Licence held by Mrs Cowan cancelled and new licence granted to L. R. Kemp. Sections 1 and 2, Block 11, town of Rapahoe, 2 roods, licensee Richard John Parker.—Licence cancelled by request. Crown land in Block I, Kaniere S.D., 246 acres, Mrs V. E. Boyd. Licence in name of V. E. Boyd cancelled and new licence granted to A. F. Dale and E. A. Dale. Section 1, town of Red Jacks, 3 roods 1.5 perches, Edward Matthews.—Application for permanent title refused, temporary licence cancelled as at 31/10/48.
