KAIAPOI MAN APPOINTED AS TOWN CLERK
Following personal interviews with five of the original 36 applicants, the Greymouth Borough Council at a special meeting last evening appointed Mi’ Noel Ernest Clemens, of Kaiapoi, to the position of town clerk of Greymouth, in succession to Mr F. H. Denton, who has resigned.
Born in Christchurch 39 years ago, Mr Clemens commenced commercial life with the Christchurch Tramways Board and was 17| years in its service, rising to the position of assistant accountant. Four and ahalf years ago he accepted the position of town clerk of Kaiapoi and at present occupies that office. Mr Clemens is married, with two children, and is endeavouring to make arrangements immediately to transfer his home to Greymouth. He is a member of Rotary and is also interested in bowling and golf. He will leave this evening on return to Kaiapoi and expects to take up his new appointment, about November 22.
