HOTEL GUEST LOSES £245 IN BANK NOTES WHILE ASLEEP
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. While asleep last night a guest in an hotel in the city was robbed of a wallet containing £245 in banknotes. He is a businessman from a northern town, who had left his trousers folded on a chair at the foot of the bed, with the wallet in the hip pocket. Awakening at 4 o’clock he switched on the light to see the time and noticed the door wide open. His trousers he saw were disarranged and the belt was hanging over the chair. The wallet was missing. He notified the licensee, who informed the police.
Detectives bqgan investigations immediately. Two men were interrogated at the detective office, and, later, one was arrested on a charge of theft.
