GUERRILLAS OPEN OFFENSIVE IN LARISSA AREA
(Rec. 10 a.m;) ATHENS. Aug. 24. The guerrillas have begun a widespread offensive mainly in the Larissa-Trikkala-Karditsa triangle, where the situation is out of the control of the local police, says the British United Press correspondent. The American flag was torn down from the American Aid Mission offies on the Larissa-Trikkala road and American lorries were fired on. Guerrillas in the same area abducted 376 youths from villages after overwhelming the local guards. A Greek Army convoy was attacked on the Larissa-Trikkala road and bridges were damaged. Guerrilla artillery pumped 150 shells into Kastoria. Abductions, shelling of towns and raids on scores of villages are reported from other districts.
