The Montreal Herald, under the heading “Do we want Bi itain s butter?,” said today in a leader: “The fact that New Zealand wants dollars has encouraged some people to Ottawa to 6gure that the sister Dominion would be willing to wriggle out of her contract with Britain to help us (Canada) to meet next winters 30,000,0001bs shortage. Of course, Ottawa can always ask Bi itain ttrelease New Zealand from her commitment. That happened once and Britain, where food ot all kinds is short, agreed. Wo like the dry comment ol a New Zealand official on the situation, however: ’I don t think that the Canadian Government is likely to repeat that request.’
