Two Gamble Colts In Parade At Victoria Park

Two yearling colts by Gamble, owned by the president of the Greymouth Trotting' Club, Mr James Steel, were in the parade of youngsters after the matinee meeting at Victoria Park on Saturday morning. One. a chestnut, is out of Huia Potts, the dam of Aloysius arid Sandbhd, and the other is a bay or brown from a winner in Belle Derby, which is also the dam of Hazard Queen, who ran third to Sandbird and Phoebe’s Pride in one of the trials. Both colts have been well done. Another youngster in the parade was a smallish three-year-old bay gelding by Brilliant Globe from Lady Ham, by Great Bingen—Barbara Worth. This youngster is being gaited by his owner, Mr A. Smith, of Cobden, who purchased him at the Addington sale at Easter. The Brilliant Globe gelding is rather on the small side, but his sire was not noted for his size.

Two-year-old .Fllies Several two-year-old fillies indicated that they were well forward when they were given a run down the straight in the parade at Riccarton on Saturday. In the first division only three jumped off and Mrs N. H. Barlow’s Limpid (Neptune—Plassida) led Mr H. A. Rhind’s Kamet, (Finis—Karlova) and Mr E. E. Steele's Brown Trout (FinisFirst Cast). In the second division Varonia had no difficulty in beating Lady Moyer (Chatsworth—Raewm) and Mr C. C. Davis’s Neptune—Sweet Abbess filly. Varonia is one of the most forward of the Riccarton youngsters. She is a half-sister by Nightmarch to the Champagne Stakes winner Top

Deck. In the third division Messrs D. F. Dailey and G. Duffield’s Alleviate (Beau Vite—Nurse Nightingale) finished in good style to beat Boronia ;(Beau Vite—Buoyancy), Robinfaye (Robin Goodfellow—Condole), and Citadel (Tweed ll—Essay) which finished practically in line.
