FIVE SPECIAL BOUTS AT BOXING TOURNEY

West Coast amateur boxers who have been making names for themselves in other South Island centres during the past 12 months will be seen in action at the Marist Sports Organisation’s tournament in the St Columba Hall, Greymouth, this evening. Among these local champions will be V. Tuck. M. Tuck and B. Eder, who competed at the last Dominion tournament. There will be special interest in these boys and also in J. Fogarty, a Cambridge University Blue in boxing, who is visiting Greymouth and who will be opposed by a promising light-heavy-weight, R. Wilson. Five special bouts will be held ana there will be 17 other contests among pupils of the Marist Brothers’ School The following will be the principal bouts: V. Tuck 9.8 v B. Eder 9.8; M. Tuck 10.11 v L. O’Brien 10.13; W. Hamilton 9.0 v A. McPhee 9.10; J. Foearty 12.7 v R. Wilson 12.5; D. Kelly 12.0 v P McManus 11.4 (for the school championship). The West Coast team for the Dominion championships will probably be chosen from the contestants in the special bouts.
