British Nationality Bill The Conservatives procured, two amendments to the British Nationality Bill, which was given its third reading in the House of Lords. The House carried by 44 votes to 24 Viscount Simon’s amendment deleting- the reference in the title of the Bill to “citizenship of the 'United Kingdom and the colonies.” The House also passed by 41 votes to 31 Lord Salisbury’s amendment to delete the clause which laid down that Eire citizens desiring to remain British subjects must notify the Home Secretary in writing. Reuter’s political correspondent says the Government will advise the rejection of the Lord’s amendments when the Bill goes back to the House of Commons.—London, June 24.
