Mr W. J. V. Hamilton left this moi ning on his return to Chiist-

church. Mr W. W. Sweeney, ol Runanga, commenced duties this morning in the traffic branch of the Railways Department at Greymouth. The Rev. T. G. Campbell will leave tomorrow for Dunedin to attend the centennial celebrations of the Otago and Southland Synod of the Presbyterian Church. Mr R. Thomson will arrive tomorrow from Auckland on transiei to the traffic branch of the Railways Department at Greymouth. Advice has been received that Miss Patricia Kiely, of Greymouth, was successful in obtaining her associate diploma for elocution (teacher’s), of. Trinity College, London. Mr and Mrs R. Hall, of Greymouth, will leave this evening for the North Island, en route to England on a holiday visit. They will leave Auckland in the Rangitata on April 10, and they expect to be away from the Dominion for about nine months. The following are guests at the Albion Hotel:—-Hon. A. McLagan, Messrs A. Prenderville, A. McLachlan’, L. S. Walker, G. Nuthall, Mr and Mrs C. Rhodes (Christchurch), Wooding (Geraldine), N. E. Coop, Mr and Mrs Farmer, Mr P. E. Carwell, Mrs Coop (Auckland), Mrs G. L. Mitchell, Mrs G. Joseph (Lyttelton). Mr and Mrs G. Potter, Mr and Mrs Wallis, Mr and Mrs A. Bruton (Wellington}, Miquel Mrs Oakley (Nelson), Mr N Rothwelll, who recently retired because of ill-health from the locomotive staff of the Railways Department, at Greymouth after 34 years’ service, was met by fellowrailwaymen at a social evening at the Blaketown Hall on Saturday and was presented with a wristlet watch. The presentation was made by the locomotive foreman, Mr C. Myers, and 16 other speakers added their good wishes to Mr Rothwell. Mr L. Neilson, who also retired from the service of the department after 32 years’ service, including the past 18 months' in Greymouth, was also a guest of honour. Numerous toasts were honoured and items were contributed by a number of artists. Those present paid tribute tQ the late Mr R. Cowie and Mr D. Cameron.
