CHARGE OF ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE
(P.A.) ROTORUA, March 11. Pleading guilty before justices of the peace this afternoon, to the robbery of James Henry Edwards of £47 with violence, two Maoris, Sam Hunia, aged 22, and Kaku Mika, aged 21 years, both employed by the State Foi'est Service at Waiotapu, were remanded to the Supreme Court in Auckland for sentence. The complainant slated that he was returning to camp by a back road on March 6, and did not recall being knocked unconscious. He recovered, to find his coat covered in blood, and he had been injured on the face and hip. His money and tobacco pouch had disappeared. The police produced a statement by Hunia, that he and Mika had followed Edwards for half a mile and had then attacked him. The pouch was thrown into a hot pool, and the money was divided. He had produced £l5 10s from his share, and Mika, who made a similar admission, handed over £l6.
