NEW YORK, March 10
“The United States Army Department in Washington is now engaged in recruiting a "high-powered commission to advise the occupation authorities on Japan’s financial rehabilitation.” says the Tokio correspondent of the New York Times. ‘Many top business leaders, including investment and commercial bankers and corporation executives, have been asked to visit Japan before March 30 and to make highlevel recommendations. | “The commission would deal with the establishment of the .exchange rate, the reopening of stock exchanges, and the lowering of the manifold controls which prevent foreign investments in Papan. “There is a strong body of-thought among Supreme Command officials that Japan’s best chance of economic revival is in foreign investments, which would become invisible exports financing her purchases; of foreign materials at a time when they are most, needed.”
