No Criminal Cases For Supreme Court At Greymouth
Apart from undefended divorce actions, there, is only one case set down for hearing at the quarterly session of the Supreme Court at Greymouth, which will open on Monday next before Mr Justice Fleming; . . The one Westport case is a civil action for damages, arising out of a motor accident. and is to be heard before the Judge and a jury of 12. Common jurymen will be required to attend for this case, but as at present there are no criminal cases on the calendar, it is likely that the services of the Grand Jury will be dispensed with. The list, of business set down is as follows:—
Civil. —Christopher John Briggs (Mr H. A. Maitland) v Charles Columbus Perkins and others (Mr M. B. Scully), action for special damages £225, and general, damages £2250, for injuries allegedly received in an alleged collision between the plaintiff’s motor-cycle and the defendant’s motor-lorry. In Divorce.—Percy Johnston v Alice Johnston, on the ground of a separation agreement; John Almond v Ethel Enid Almond, on the ground of a separation agreement; George Searle v Florence Elizabeth Meta Searle, on the ground of desertion; Mavis Ann Baty v Colin James Baty, on the ground of a separation agreement.
There will also be a motion for discharge in bankruptcy.
