CROQUET TOURNEY CONCLUDES: HANDICAP DOUBLES TO GREYMOUTH PAIR

The West Coast Croquet Association’s annual tournament concluded at the Makura green, Greymouth, yesterday afternoon in unpleasant weather. Intermittent rain fell but despite this the greens remained in good order and some interesting matches resulted.

In the final of the handicap doubles the Greymouth pair, Mesdames Mercer and Prescott, scored a comfortable win over Mesdames Owens and Keating by 26 to 11, while in the handicap singles Mrs McHerron (Westport) defeated Mrs McLauchlan (Cobden), after an interesting game, by 26 to 22. The West Coast Association’s A grade Silver Button Competition was won by Mrs A. Nottle, of Westport. Final results were:— Handicap Doubles

Semi-final (second round). —Mesdames Owen and Keating (Christchurch) 26, Mrs Hooper and Miss McKnight (Greymouth) 17. Final. —Mesdames Mercer and Prescott (Greymouth) 26, Mesdames Owens and Keating (Christchurch) 11.

Handicap Singles Final. —Mrs McHerron (Westport) 26, Mrs McLauchlan (Cobden) 22.
