THE CROSS seems to stand untouched as a burst of flame shoots out at the height of the fire which destroyed the Sacred Heart Church at Quincy, Massachusetts, with loss estimated at half a million dollars, on January 20. Only the cross, part of the granite walls and steel frame remained standing after the fire was put out.
