LAND BOARD DEALS WITH APPLICATIONS ON WEST COAST

A number of applications for land, timber licences, transfers and subleases were dealt with by the Westland Land Board, which sat at Hokitika yesterday. Mr H. M. Lawrey, Commissioner of Crown Lands, presided, and associated with him were Messrs W. Clayton, H. G. Carter, E. A. Kirby and B. Ward. Several adjournments were granted, and the following applications were granted except where otherwise stated: —

Section 5, Waiho Gorge Extension No. 1 (31 perches); John Basil Christensen (Fox Glacier). . Crown land in Block VII, Kanieri S.D. (30 acres); James Colin Howat (Weld street, Hokitika). Section 8. Block XLII, Runanga (34.9 perches); George Glen, Runanga.. miner. Timber Licences Renewal of timber licence No. 1061 part section 2413, Block VI, Mawheranui S.D.: F. Fletcher (Blackball). Renewal oil timber licence No. 101" (49 acres) Crown land, part section 3325, Block TV, Ahaura S.D.; W. J. McVicar. Renewal of timber licence No. 1042 (25 acres) Block XVI, Waimea S.D.; John Reedy.—Refused. Renewal of timber-splitting licence No. 1006 (20 acres), part reserve 333, Block XI, Bruce Bay S.D.; T. Rochford. Renewal of timber licence No- 997, section 2720, Block X, Mawheranui S.D.; J. O'Neill. Licence to cut ahd remove birch mining timber and birch sleepers and posts (area of 46 acres along Frolli road and approximately 25 chains from the terrace edge in Block 11, Ahaura S.D.). —A. Johns. Renewal of timber licence No. 1023 (300 acres, Block IV, Kanieri S.D.). —J. R. Shannon, Koiterangi.—Refused. A transfer of section 8, Block XXXV, Runanga (1 rood 3 perches) from Giovanni Rubbo to John Hassan, was approved..' New licences were granted T. E. Nolan for land held by Thomas Nolan as follows: —Reserve 1051, Wataroa S.D. (5 acres 3 roods "38 perches); 200 acres, Crown land, Block 11, Wataroa S.D. (half interest only) in Crown land, Block 11, Wataroa S.D. (.200 . acres).
