CATALOGUE CLOSED FOR RECORD AUCKLAND WOOL SALE
(P.A.) AUCKLAND,'December 15. Because of the heavy influx of wool, the catalogue for a record twoday January sale in Auckland was closed today. Forty thousand bales will be offered at this sale, and the quantity is already in store. Fine weather this season has brought shearing further forward than for many years. In the trade, it is believed that the shearing season has been the best for at least 20 years. In November, 1946, it was with difficulty that the Auckland selling centre was able to muster some 12,000 bales of the new clip for that month’s sale, while this year there was no trouble in reaching the 25,000 bale Jimit set for the November sale. More wool could have been submitted if the authorities would have accepted the additional quantity. Already more than 70,000 bales of ■wool have been sold, or placed m store in Auckland. This represents about seven-twelfths of last season s offering at Auckland. The sale has been set down lor January 19 and 22, and 20,000 bales will be offered on each day. It is expected to avoid the difficulties of last year, when there were heavy demands on wool stoics, by the experiment of the break between the days- of sale.
