Food Costs In Hospitals
• The removal of subsidies on certain foodstuffs has involved the North Canterbury Hospital Board in additional expenditure, which is estimated to be £470 a month. The estimate which covers food used at all the in<stitutions controlled by the board, is made up as follows:—Bacon, per lb £7O; ham, per lb, £2; cheese, 2d per lb, £9; sugar, 24d per lb, £79; tea, Is I’d per lb, £80; meat (average)), 2’d per lb, £230.
