Greek Communists Executed
Thirteen Greek Communists who were sentenced to death on September 14 by courts-martial in northern Greece, were shot at Salonika today. Twenty-two other Communists, including two women,' who were sentenced to death for co-operating with the guerrillas, were executed in the last 24 hours. Altogether, 63 Communists were sentenced to death on September'l4 for. “working with rebel groups” and preparing a series of “terrorist acts” to seize power in Salonika. A guerrilla attack on Metsovo today was beaten off after severe street fighting. The guerrillas withdrew leaving 45 dead. They took 35 hostages, burned the city hall, school, and police station.—Athens, October 21.
