RECORD PRICE FOR CRUTCHINGS AT INVERCARGILL SALE
(P.A.) INVERCARGILL, Oct. 22. A New Zealand record price of 34d for carpet crutchings was established at the first wool sale of the season at Invercargill today, when that price was paid for a bin lot of extra super crutchings offered by the New Zealand Loan and Mercatnile Agency Company. An official i*eport issued by the Invercargill Woolbrokers’ Association, in conjunction with the New Zealand Woolbuyers’ Association and the New Zealand Wool Disposal Commission, states:—
“There was a fully representative bench of buyers operating both for local mills and overseas. The total offering was new season’s wool, consisting mainly of crutchings, with a proportion of early shorn fleece. The total offering was about 4000 bales. “Average good and super crutchings were up on recent sales mainly because of their light condition and quality. “Fleece wool was fully firm on the Dunedin sale.
“Practically a total clearance was made, and any lots passed at the sale were readily saleable at the conclusion. The Wool Disposal Commission’s purchases were practically nil.”
