[SPECIAL TO STAR]
DUNEDIN, October 11.
Bel Hamed returned to the Winning list with a sterling performance when she outclassed the field in the King George Handicap, the main event at the Forbury Park Trotting’ Club’s meeting today. Bel Hamed was handy to the pacemaker, Jackie Guy, at the straight entrance, and when given her head the duaghter of U. Scott and Bonnie Barbara won by four and a half lengths without being extended. Bel Hamed was driven by her trainer, T. H. Gunning. Jackie Guy gave an honest display for second place but could not go with the winner over the final furlong. Imperial. Grattan gave 'a solid display for third. Loyal Peter gave nothing else a chance when lie began quickly and led all the way in the Flying Handicap. With five furlongs to go, Loyal Peter was -about three lengths clear of Dillondale, Aberhall, Ribbon Again, Golden Shadow , Navigate, Jack’s Son, and Highland Scott. Loyal Peter was always master pf the situation, and'he appeared to have a lot in reserve as he passing the winning post two lengths clear of Dillondale with Jack’s Son another three lengths away third. A speedy son of Grattan Loyal and Erin’s Fortune, Loval Peter has marred some of his efforts by losing ground at the start, but, on his best behaviour, he has proved capable of beating most of the best pacers in commission.
