(P.A.) AUCKLAND, October 12. The first day of th'e Auckland Racing Club’s spring meeting was; held yesterday. Apart from some light showers the weather was fine. The track was slow. The attendahce was 21,000, against 23,000 last year, and the totalisator handled £175,587 10s, against £197,101 10s last year, a decrease of £21,514.
