TIMETABLE FOR ROYAL WEDDING
LONDON, Oct. 11. The Lord Chamberlain has announced the time-table, which has been planned to a minute, for the marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten at Westminster Abbey on November 20. Queen Mary, with the Princess Royal, will leave Marlborough House at 11.3 a.m., G.M.T., in a motor procession. Queen Elizabeth will leave Buckingham Palace at the same time in a carriage procession preceded by a captain’s escort of Household Cavalry. On arrival at the Abbey, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary will be joined by Princess Andrew of Greece, who is the bridegroom’s mother. The bridegroom will arrive at the Abbey at 11.15 a.m., G.M.T. His Majesty the King and Princess Elizabeth will leave Buckingham Palace at 11.16, G.M.T'., with a Sovereign’s escort of Household Cavalry, and will arrive at the Abbey at 11.28 a.m., G.M.T.
His Majesty, two minutes later, will proceed up the aisle with Princess Elizabeth. His Majesty will give the bride away. The Archbishop of Canterbury (Dr Geoffrey Fisher), assisted by the Dean of Westminster (the Rev. A. C. Don) and the Precentor of Westminster Abbey (the Rev. C. M. Armitage), will read the service. After the pronouncement of the ■blessing by Dr Fisher, the bride and bridegroom, attended by Princess Margaret and their pages (Prince Michael of Kent and Prince William of Gloucester), will go to the High Altar, where the Archbishop of York (Dr Cyril Garbett) will, give the address. The register will be signed in the Chapel of St Edward the Confessor.
Reuters says the only big function for the Royal wedding will be a reception at Buckingham Palace on November 18, when about 1000 guests will be present. Fewer than 100 persons will attend the wedding breakfast.
The special correspondent of the New Zealand Press Association says that the Princess’s going-away ensemble will be a frock of French silk and a tailored coat of Yorkshire woven wool fabric. The Prime Minister (Mr- Fraser) announced today that. he regretted that he would be unable to attend the wedding of Princess Elizabeth in London on November 20, and that New Zealand would be represented at the ceremony by the High Com- i missioner in London (Mr W. J. ■ Jordan).
