MINERS’ DELEGATES APPROVE PLAN FOR LONGER HOURS

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 10. The Mineworkers’ Union delegate conference unanimously approved the agreement reached with the National Coal Board providing Tor longer working hours to be worked, either as an additional half-hour daily or by shifts.

The conference recommended acceptance by the miners who, if they accept the plan by a majority vote, will begin the longer hours at the first week-end in November.

Mr Will Lawther, union president, said that the union decided to submit a claim soon to the Coal Board for wage increases equivalent to £1 a week.
