ATTEMPT TO SET UP THIRD CHINESE PARTY DISRUPTED

Chinese Government agents in making a series of arrests in Peking last week are believed to have disrupted an incipient opposition movement within the Government ranks says' the New York Time’s correspondent, cabling from Peking. Some of the most important people gaoled are believed to have been key operators in an attempt to organise a third party movement to turn against the Nanking Government and make peace with the Communists. Among those arrested were Yu Hsienching, Chief of the Planning Board in the headquarters of General Sun Lienchung, General Hsieh Hsuyang, Chief of Operations at Sun’s headquarters, Chen Lien, daughter of Chen Polei, one of Chiang Kai Shek’s closest advisers. She had been teaching at Bridgman Academy, an exclusive American mission school for Chinese girls. Another woman teacher at Bridgman Academy was also arrested.
The military secret police have located' a radio station claimed to have been used by the alleged conspirators.
