CONTRACT AND TOURIST SERVICES TO BE REVIEWED

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Contract and tourist road services will be reviewed to save petrol. This was announced by the No. I Transport Licensing Authority, Mr E. J. Phelan today. Tourist service, licences could be greatly reduced, he said, and some reductions probably could be made in contract services where, vehicle's were hired to travel great distances for sport or pleasure. There was no intention of reducing ordinary passenger services, he added. He proposed introducing a policy of tourist licences being subject to control only by a recognised tourist agency.
