THE WEATHER Forecast: Becoming Fine
The following weather forecast was issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at noon today:—
Situation: A cold front is crossing th’e North Island; a depression northeast of the North Island is moving south-eastwards.
Forecast to 5 p.m. tomorrow: Fresh or strong south-west winds, gradually moderating; a few scattered showers at first in north Westland, but weather soon becoming fine; temperatures cold with frosts in sheltered places tonight. Further outlook: Fair. LOCAL RECORDINGS The following meteorological recordings were taken at Greymouth at 9 o’clock this morning:— Barometer 1 .... 29.72 in (1006.4 mil) Maximum temp, past 24hrs .... 54.3 minimum air temperature .... 46.7 Minimum grass temperature . . 46.3 Wind Sou-sou-west (strong breeze) Sky Overcast River Three-knot run Bar ' Moderate sea Rainfall 1.55 in. Rainfall to date 59.32 in. Sunshine yesterday Nil Sunshine since April 1 734 hrs. The depth on the bar at high water this morning was 24ft 9ins.
