Three West Coast Players Nominated For S.I. Fifteen.
Three West Coast representatives, J. Lindbom, E. G. Walker and R. Eastgate'will be nominatI ed for inclusion in the South Isi land team to play the North Isi land at Invercargill this month. Blair manager of the West Coast team which will assemble at the Park Hotel at 2 p.m. The Kiwi Club (Hokitika) wrote ■ stating that because of an unavoidable delay, the bus in which its juni ior team travelled to Greymouth last ' Saturday was late in arriving. On j arrival in Greymouth, however, for its game against Magpies the team found that neither the Magpies team nor the referee who had been appointed to control the game, was present. The Kiwis Club asked what action the union proposed to take. Mr Baillie said that both the Magpies team and the referee had been present at the appointed time and place, but when the Kiwi team faili ed to put in an appearance the referee had cancelled the game. “Shortly afterwards,” said Mr Baillie, “the Kiwi team arrived and found no-one there.” The secretary (Mr O. The secretary (Mr O. McLean) was instructed to write to the Kiwi Club explaining the situation and informing them that if time permitted the game would be replayed at a later date. '
Matches Arranged Permission was granted for a match between Cobden and Sydenham fourth grade teams in Greymouth on September 20. Mr E. W. Todd said that the Sydenham Club was also asking for a game for a 7st 71b team on the same date and that the secretary of the Junior Advisory Board had been instructed to inform the Sydenham Club that endeavours would be made to provide a game. Mr Todd said that all arrangements for the fifth and sixth grade teams to travel to Christchurch on Friday, September 5, had been completed and the bus would leave the Greymouth Post Office at 9.30 a.m.
The managers of the two teams which travelled to Hokitika last week-end (Messrs W. Williams and M. R. Bunt) were thanked for their reports and Hokitika was congratulated on retaining the Dittman Shield. Both managers reported, however, that one player from each of the teams had failed to appear for his respective game in Hokitika and had not notified the managers or the selector. The secretary was instructed to write to the two players concerned and to ask for an explanation.
