IMPORTANCE OF LONDON TALKS STRESSED

(Reed. 11 a.m.) LONDON. September 2.

The financial talks in London will assume great importance, as not only will Dominion representatives examine the position arising from the dollar- shortage, but meetings of the International Bank and International Monetary Fund will open an September 10. The United States Secretary of the Treasury, Mr Snyder, who will attend these meetings vfill take the opportunity of discussing the whole financial situation with the British and Dominion representatives. He will see Mr Attlee, Mr Bevin, Dr Dalton and Sir Stafford Cripps during his visit. Sil’ Stafford Cripps is now preparing his programme for the expansion of exports to be announced next week. The Foreign Secretary, Mr Bevin, tonight is going to Southport where he will deliver to the T.U.C. Congress tomorrow a speech which is described as “of the greatest importance.” Canada will play an informal part in the London conference, although she is not included in the sterling area.
