FORMER PRISONERS OF JAPAN: DOCTOR’S VIEWS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. Those suffering from the effects of Japanese prisoner-of-war camps are entitled to financial recompense, which should be paid by the Japanese in the form of reparations. This is the opinion of the medical superintendent of the Auckland Public Hospital, Dr J. W. Craven. . Commending the decision of the Air Force Association to ask the Goverment for special compensation for prisoners of war, particularly those held by the Japanese, Dr Craven said the experience of those who had been in Japanese hands must have serious effects in after life. Dr Craven was captured by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore and was a prisoner of war for more than three years.
