Russians To Be Deported
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Three Russian seamen, who were members of the crew of the Swedish tanker Avanti, and who failed to report when the ship left Wellington on August 30, were charged before Mr Stout S.M., today at Wellington, that, being prohibited immigrants, they did unlawfully enter the country. All pleaded guilty. They said they missed the ship and did. not wish to remain in New Zealand. s The Magistrate ordered that the seamen be kept in custody for a period not exceeding six months, or until a ship should arrive on which they could be deported.—(P.A.)
