For the third day there has been rid'WSffe Si ind Westport Coal Coiripany’s mine at Denniston because of a dispute involving a claim by tradesmen for § bonus 6f Is 6d,d day, sirtiilar to that received by fee rope road workers. While none of the under - ground Wdrkets started this morning, *oihe of thb tradesmen did start work,but ceased later in the morning, leaving only the power-iid'use attendants engaged. The dispute .iS being referred to fee Coal Council.: Prbdiieiidri froth Denniston averages about 370 tons a day. It is understood that the Denniston Miners’' Vriidii has Cle’ared itself of responsibility iri. the dispute,- arid it is expected that work .in the mine will be restiriied bit Monday. The position of the tradesmen, Who are the main parties in the. hold-up and whb before fee’ trouble started were members of the union, is as yet obscure, but it is hoped there will be deYelopriierifs after a meeting on Sunday, which Mr A. Prendeville (national president) and Mr F. Crooks (na-: tiorial secretary of fed Miners’ Union) Will atterid.
