METAL SUPPLIES FROM OVERSEAS

(P.A.) AUCKLAND, This Day. An improved outlook for the relic- 1 ’ of shortages of raw materials in metal industries is reported by the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association. Shipments of metals arrived at Auckland by the vessels Salamaua and Kurow, although neither brought pig iron. The vessel Suva, due here at the end of the month, will bring metal supplies, as will the Coulonge. which will bring a substantial shipment of pig iron. A quantity of pig iron is to be brought from South Australia by the vessel Glen Park. It is expected, the supplies will be enough for Auckland users for six months at least.

It is understood the Government will continue to endeavour to obtain substantial quantities.
