FERTILISER FOR CURRENT YEAR

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Seme misconception had arisen about the fertiliser allocation for new grass for the 1947-8 season, said the 'Minister ’ of.'. Agriculture, Mr Cullen today. Farmers in some districts had con fused th?, ration i'or new grass with’.the top-dressing allocation.

The position is that the allocation for sowing down new grass is 3cwt of, super, or its equivalent, in the North Island and 2cwt in the South Island, whereas the top-dressing allocation is 67.2 per-cent, of the annual average usage in the base years. Ths makes the farmers’ topdressing ration for 1947-8 one-third greater than, the allowance in 1946-7 and the allocation for new grass is in addition to the top-dressing ration.
