Japanese Foreign Credit
Japan required a foreign credit of 1,000,000,000 dollars (£250,000,000) to carry on her foreign trade properly, - said the president of the Japanese Foreign Trade Association (Mr Kumakichi Nakashima). Up to June, Japan had borrowed about £320,000,000, mostly to pay for foodstuffs and other essential imports from the United States. — Tokio, July 10.
Saturday Work Banned A ban on overtime from next Saturday at the five major rubbetr companies in Sydney was announced today by the Federated Rubber Workers’ Union. This action follows a refusal by the employers to discuss with the union a request for a 40-hour week in the rubber industry, which is governed by a Federal award, providing for a 44-hour week. The companies involved employ 3000 men.— Sydney, July 10.
