Land for Ex-servicemen

With the acquisition during May of 22,147 acres, the land acquired or held by the Crown for servicemen settlement at the end of that month totalled more than 685,000 acres, says a statement from the Rehabilitation Department. Of that amount. 338,748 acres have been purchased under the provisions of the Small Farms Act of 1932-33, about 214,000 acres (part already allotted) have been held by the Lands and Survey Department for servicemen settlement, 45,810 acres have been acquired under Part It of the Servicemen’s Settlement and Land Sales Act, while under Section 51 of the same Act 60,217 acres have been acquired for sub-division and 26,455 acres in single units.
