TRAIN STRIKE THREATENED IN VICTORIA
MELBOURNE, March 21. Union leaders claim that all of the Victorian train services will be at a standstill within a week.
As part of a move to extend the metal trade dispute, about 4000 Melbourne members of the Amalgamated Engineering Union, in addition to those already on strike, will leave their jobs within the next 24 hours. These men are employed in the Railway, Tramway, and State Electricity Commission Workshops, power-houses, and gasworks. The week-end stoppages will bring the total number of engineers on strike to about 10,000.
