W.A.A.F TO BE PERMANENT PART OF THE R.A.F.

(Rec. 11.45 a.m.) LONDON, March IT. Mi' P. J. Noel-Baker in the House of Commons debate on the air estimates announced the Air Council’s plans to convert the W.A.A.F. into a permanent part of the R.A.F. It .was proposed for a start to train a very limited number of wonien as air crew for non-combatant duties, he said. The women would probably be incorporated in to the R.A.F., but there would also be an auxiliary for women so that the W.A.A.F. would continue as an addition to the new integrated service. It was also proposed, said Mr NoelBaker to create a flying branch of women in the reserve for women who qualified as pilots.
