The Bishop of Melanesia (the Rt. "Rev. W. H. Baddeley) who has been appointed Suffragan Bishop of Whitby, England, arrived at Auckland by flying boat from Sydney yesterday. He will return to Australia next Tuesday, and leave for England on April I.— (P-A.) The appointment of Mr A. R. Tarr, of the District Traffic Manager’s office, Wellington, to succeed Mr J. S. Roscoe as general secretary of the New Zealand Railway Officers’ Institute, was announced yesterday. Mr Roscoe has been forced to retire because of continued ill-health. (P.A.) Mr E. D. Andrews, former New Zealand singles champion and New Zealand Davis Cup representative, has accepted the appointment of nonplaying captain-manager of the 1947 New Zealand Davis Cup team, which will leave Auckland on March 27 for England.-—(P.A.) ■ Guests at the Albion Hotel include Messrs K.
