PLANNING FOR CENTRAL AUTHORITY IN GERMANY
(Rec. 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, Mar. 16. The Germans are making their first organised effort to restore central. government to Germany, says the British United Press Berlin correspondent. The leaders of the Christian Democratic Union from all the occupation zones agreed yesterday at Berlin to form a committee to lay the groundwork for a central government. Two Opposition leaders—the head of the Socialist Unity Party, Wilhelm Pieck, and Wilhelm Kueltz, of the Liberal Democrats—attended. Pieck’s presence is believed to indicate that the Russians approve of the move.
