After his brilliant win. at the pre- I vious Moonee Valley meeting, Master ‘ Dash was regarded as the only seri- : ous opponent to Attley in the Alister Clark Stakes, run over one mile at}( Moonee Valley to-day. Outside of < these two long odds were obtainable 1 by backers. The result was a sur- i prise, as St. Fairy, a six-year-old J gelding owned by Mr O. R. Porter, and trained by T. Lewis at Fleming- 1 ton, defeated Master Dash. As usual, Mastei’ Dash did not begin smartly, < and was in the centre of the field for I most of the journey. His rider kept I to the rails, waiting for an opening, ( but the field was closely bunched and J it was not until St. Fairy had ob- ] tained a winning lead that Bourgoure ] pulled Master Dash to the outside, ' He finished very fast, but St. Fairy j had obtained too great a break. Att- r ley attempted to lead all the way, and at the half mile he had a lead < of three lengths. In the straight he E stopped badly and missed a place. j Before the race Attley appeared to e have trained off, and his display in- , dicated he has apparently had enough j racing for the present. c Miss Prim, a daughter of the New | Zealand-bred mare, Lady Primrose, j achieved success in the Moonee Ponds Handicap after disappointing * in her recent running. j Alister Clark Stakes, of £2100; one I mile. —St. Fairy 8.7 (A.
